BEIJING (GNP): The Belt and Road News Network (BRNN), organised under the council chairmanship of People’s Daily, has launched the 3rd Silk Road Global News Awards, inviting media professionals and journalists worldwide to submit entries ahead of the December 31, 2026 deadline.
The awards recognise outstanding journalism and media work that reflects the spirit of the Silk Road, supports the Belt and Road Initiative, embodies civilisational exchange, or carries strong international influence.
Four Award Categories
The competition is structured across four categories. The Best Reporting Award recognises distinguished coverage, commentary, podcasts or personal blogs that demonstrate clear, logical and convincing storytelling presented as a single article or series.
The Best Photography Award honours press photography that captures compelling moments with distinct thematic focus, reflecting China-foreign exchanges across education, culture, tourism, public health, infrastructure and sports.
The Best Video Award is open to press videos featuring in-depth storytelling, strong narrative techniques and wide public appeal, presented as short videos, documentaries or micro films.
The Best Innovation Award recognises pioneering media projects that explore new cooperation models, communication mechanisms, new media channels or innovative international platforms, including AIGC products and interactive special events.
Each category will produce one winner, four shortlists and ten longlists, all of whom will be eligible for cash or other prizes.
Eligibility and Submission Rules
The awards are open to global submission, with one important condition: eligible entries must be produced either solely by foreign entities or through China-foreign collaboration. Works independently produced by Chinese institutions or individuals are not eligible.
All submitted entries must have been published or exhibited on media platforms, including social media, online platforms or print publications, after January 2025.
Entrants must hold copyright or have obtained authorisation from the copyright holder. Entries must not contain uncopyrighted or plagiarised material, and entrants bear full legal responsibility for their submissions.
Entries are submitted online. All participants must register on BRNN’s official website before submitting. Judging will take place across two rounds, with updates published on the BRNN website. No entry may be withdrawn once submitted.
