Islamabad (GNP): A delegation of Christian community leaders, including MNA Kheal Das Kohistani, held meetings with Federal Minister for Law, Justice and Human Rights Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar and Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Attaullah Tarar. The talks centered on minority rights protections, legal reform proposals, and broader community welfare concerns.
The visiting delegation acknowledged the government’s sustained efforts toward upholding minority rights, expressing appreciation for recent legislative steps, notably the Child Marriage Restraint Act, and recognizing the National Commission for Minorities’ ongoing work in fostering inclusion and equal opportunity for all citizens.
Community representatives put forward their views and suggestions on proposed revisions to Christian personal laws, while also raising several matters they believe warrant further legal and administrative attention. The conversation revolved around reinforcing legal protections, resolving community grievances, and ensuring that existing laws and policies are genuinely responsive to the needs of the Christian community.
Senator Azam Nazeer Tarar underscored the government’s dedication to substantive dialogue with minority groups, stressing that inclusive legal and policy reform must be grounded in ongoing community consultation. He affirmed that the government remains bound by its constitutional obligation to guarantee equal rights and opportunities for every citizen.

Federal Minister Attaullah Tarar commended the Christian community’s constructive participation and reiterated the government’s firm commitment to minority protection. He noted that direct engagement with community representatives is essential to ensuring that legislation and public policy genuinely reflect the concerns and aspirations of all Pakistanis. He also stressed the government’s resolve to nurture interfaith harmony, equal citizenship, and a discrimination-free society where every Pakistani can play a meaningful role in national progress.
Both sides agreed to pursue further rounds of consultation to carefully examine the delegation’s recommendations and establish a practical mechanism for resolving issues related to Christian personal laws and other outstanding community concerns.
