Lahore (GNP): In a landmark cultural initiative set to redefine the future of performing arts in Pakistan, Lahore Arts Council Alhamra has officially announced the grand revival of quality commercial theatre under the patronage of the Information & Culture Department, Government of Punjab.
This initiative brings back meaningful stage entertainment by introducing high-quality, family-oriented, script-based theatrical productions rooted in creativity, artistic excellence, and cultural values.
The revival project is a historic step toward rebuilding Pakistan’s theatrical identity and creating a vibrant platform for emerging and established talent. Through this initiative, Alhamra aims to transform commercial theatre into a refined, intellectually engaging, and socially responsible medium that entertains audiences while preserving the dignity and richness of Pakistan’s cultural heritage.
As part of this major cultural movement, Alhamra is inviting artists, performers, writers, directors, and other creative professionals to join its official grand production team. We’re inviting passionate individuals, fresh faces, and experienced theatre practitioners to contribute to a new era of sophisticated stage productions that blend humor, creativity, and artistic discipline with powerful storytelling.
Actors and comedians possessing exceptional comic timing, dynamic stage presence, and a passion for live performance are encouraged to apply. Scriptwriters capable of crafting original, witty, and strictly family-friendly narratives, along with visionary directors and technically skilled production crew members, are also invited to participate in the revival initiative.
Applicants for the initial shortlisting process have been asked to submit a brief professional profile or CV, recent photographs, and performance samples, including acting or comedy video clips, scripts, or creative portfolios, depending upon their field of expertise.
The application deadline is June 30, 2026, and auditions and related activities will take place at the historic Alhamra Arts Center on The Mall, Lahore. Detailed registration links and audition schedules for shortlisted candidates will be announced soon on Alhamra’s official digital platforms.
Speaking on the occasion, Executive Director Alhamra Muhammad Nawaz Gondal stated that “Alhamra is committed to restoring the lost prestige of commercial theatre by introducing productions that reflect intelligence, creativity, cultural refinement, and positive entertainment.
