The talks come amid US President Donald Trump’s landmark visit to China, where he is expected to discuss the lingering Middle East conflict with his Chinese counterpart Xi Jinping, among other issues.

The two foreign ministers discussed the wider implications of the closure of the Strait of Hormuz on the global economy and expressed hope for a peaceful and durable resolution of the ongoing situation.

Ishaq Dar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to pursuing “all efforts” for peace and stability in the region and beyond.

Jarrah, for his part, appreciated Islamabad’s peace efforts to promote dialogue and engagement between the US and Iran, in addition to commending the South Asian country’s “constructive” role in advancing regional peace and stability.

Pakistan brokered a two-week ceasefire between the US and Iran on April 8, followed by critical talks in Islamabad attended by senior delegations from both countries on April 11 and 12.

However, neither side was able to reach an agreement to bring the war to an end.

Since then, the two warring sides have been exchanging formulas and counter-formulas to reach a middle ground to resume a second round of direct talks to end the conflict that has already disrupted global energy supplies and daily lives across the region.

Pakistan and Kuwait Share Deep-Rooted Ties Rooted in Mutual Respect and Regional Peace

Pakistan and Kuwait share deep-rooted fraternal ties built on mutual respect, shared Islamic values, and longstanding diplomatic cooperation. The two countries have maintained strong bilateral relations spanning decades, with Kuwait consistently supporting Pakistan in times of need, including through financial assistance and investment.

A large Pakistani diaspora residing in Kuwait further strengthens the people-to-people bond between the two nations, contributing significantly to both economies. On regional matters, both countries have historically advocated for peaceful resolution of conflicts, stability in the Middle East, and adherence to international law.

Kuwait has long recognized Pakistan’s role as a responsible regional power, and Pakistan’s recent diplomatic efforts in brokering dialogue between the United States and Iran have further elevated its standing in the eyes of Kuwait and the broader Arab world. Both nations remain committed to working through multilateral platforms, including the United Nations and the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, to address regional challenges and promote lasting peace and stability across the Muslim world and beyond.

Furthermore, both countries have been actively enhancing cooperation in the fields of trade, energy, and education, with growing interest from Kuwaiti investors in Pakistan’s developing economic landscape. As the region navigates complex geopolitical challenges, the Pakistan-Kuwait partnership stands as a model of South Asian and Gulf cooperation, grounded in shared values, strategic interests, and a collective vision for a more peaceful and prosperous world.
