Islamabad, GNP – The United States Mission in Pakistan today commemorated the 250th anniversary of American independence, celebrating a historic milestone that honors the enduring ideals of freedom, dignity, and self-determination that have inspired people worldwide for two and a half centuries.
At the U.S. Independence Day reception in Islamabad, Chargé d’Affaires Natalie A. Baker reflected on the profound significance of the Declaration of Independence and highlighted the remarkable transformation of the U.S.-Pakistan relationship over the past two years.

Strategic Partnership Under President Trump
CDA Baker credited President Donald Trump’s bold, results-oriented leadership with elevating U.S.-Pakistan relations to a genuine strategic partnership grounded in mutual respect, aligned interests, and a shared vision for security and prosperity. She emphasized President Trump’s personal engagement with Pakistani leadership as “a testament to the genuine personal bonds that exist at the highest levels of our two governments.”
Pakistan’s Diplomatic Role
The Chargé d’Affaires also praised Islamabad’s role as the venue for the highest-level U.S.-Iran talks since the 1979 revolution. “Pakistan – by having good ties with both Tehran and Washington – was uniquely positioned to bring two adversaries together… It was Pakistan’s moment, and Pakistan rose to it,” Baker said.
Cultural Connections and Sports Diplomacy
CDA Baker spoke warmly of Pakistan’s people and places, recalling her attendance at the revival of Lahore’s legendary Basant kite festival after nearly two decades and visits to little-known communities in interior Sindh.
She also celebrated sports as diplomacy, noting that Pakistan is at the heart of FIFA World Cup 2026 by manufacturing the footballs used at venues across the United States, Canada, and Mexico. “When fans around the world watch the beautiful game this summer, they will be watching, in a very real sense, a product of Pakistani craftsmanship and skill,” she added.

Liberty Bell Replicas Showcase
A centerpiece of the celebration featured 16 Liberty Bell replicas painted by Pakistani artists and students through the Embassy’s Lincoln Corner network, offering unique interpretations of freedom, democracy, and opportunity.
Vision for the Future
CDA Baker concluded with confidence in the future of U.S.-Pakistan bilateral relations: “As we enter America’s Golden Age, I genuinely believe the most important chapter of the U.S.-Pakistan partnership has only just begun – the best is yet to come.”
The event underscored the shared aspirations of American and Pakistani people and highlighted the strength of the evolving bilateral relationship.
