United Nations GNP: Pakistan has called for an early resumption of dialogue and renewed diplomatic efforts to end the ongoing conflict in Ukraine, stressing that lasting peace can only be achieved through negotiations.
Speaking at a UN Security Council briefing on Ukraine, Pakistan’s Deputy Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Usman Jadoon, expressed concern over the continuation of hostilities and the worsening humanitarian situation caused by the prolonged conflict.
He highlighted the severe impact of the war on civilians and emphasized that protecting civilians, humanitarian workers, and critical infrastructure remains a legal obligation under international humanitarian law.
Ambassador Jadoon welcomed recent temporary ceasefires and efforts involving prisoner exchanges and the return of deceased servicemen, describing them as confidence-building measures that could support broader peace efforts.
Reaffirming Pakistan’s position, he stated that dialogue remains the only path toward a just, comprehensive, and durable solution, urging all sides to show political will and prioritize diplomacy for a peaceful resolution of the conflict.
