United Nations, GNP: Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, reaffirmed Pakistan’s unwavering support for the Palestinian people during a special meeting held by the Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People (CEIRPP) to commemorate the 78th anniversary of the Nakba.
Addressing the gathering, Ambassador Asim Iftikhar said the Nakba remains an ongoing tragedy for Palestinians, marked by occupation, displacement, denial of rights, and continued suffering. He noted that more than 750,000 Palestinians were forcibly displaced in 1948 and stressed that millions still remain deprived of their right to return.
The ambassador strongly condemned the humanitarian crisis in Gaza, highlighting the large-scale loss of civilian lives, especially women and children, during ongoing Israeli attacks. He also expressed concern over illegal settlement expansion, violence in the occupied West Bank, and repeated violations at Al Aqsa Mosque.
Pakistan called on the international community to continue supporting UNRWA and emphasized that lasting peace can only be achieved through the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
Ambassador Asim Iftikhar reiterated Pakistan’s solidarity with the Palestinian people and their right to self-determination, freedom, and dignity.
