Islamabad, 24 November 2022 (GNP/ TDI): England Cricket team is all set to land in Pakistan on November 26 to play three test-series matches.
The first match of the series will take place in Rawalpindi on 1st December. Multan will stage the second match from 9-13 December before Karachi hosts the final match from December 17 to 21.
Rob Key, England men’s cricket Managing Director, while talking about the visit stated, “We are looking forward to touring Pakistan as a Test team for the first time since 2005.”
“It will be a historic tour and a compelling series against a good side. I wish the players every success, especially those new to the squad and those returning after some time away,” Key continued.
It is to be noted that the England team is currently in the middle of a week-long camp at the Abu Dhabi Cricket and Sports Hub, playing a three-day warm-up match against the England Lions. Following the end of this camp, they will immediately fly to Pakistan.
England Squad
The England Cricket Board has released the name of the 15-member squad for the test series with Ben Stokes as captain.
The other players include James Anderson, Harry Brook, Zak Crawley, Ben Duckett, Ben Foakes, Will Jacks, Keaton Jennings, Jack Leach, Liam Livingstone, Jamie Overton, Ollie Pope, Ollie Robinson, Joe Root, and Mark Wood.
Among all the players, veteran seam bowler James Anderson is the only member of the England squad who featured in the last Test series in Pakistan in 2005.
In this vein, Anderson showed his excitement while stating, “It’s exciting for us having not been there for quite some time.
I think I’m probably the only player in this squad who has done a Test tour of Pakistan. I think the fans and players over there would be very excited to see us play.”
It is pertinent to mention that the England team for the first time will bring their own chef to Pakistan for the test series and has hired Omar Meziane, who served in the same capacity previously.
