Islamabad, 7 December 2022 (GNP): Maroof International Hospital Islamabad launched its “Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign” in early October, commonly known as “Pinktober,” by participating in the inaugural Breast Cancer Awareness event conducted by the Honorable First Lady Mrs. Samina Alvi’s at Awan e Sadr Islamabad on 10 October 2022.
Since then, Maroof International Hospital has arranged and implemented a slew of awareness events and camps of varied scales with the goal of educating the public that “prevention is better than cure.”
On 22nd October MIH’s Surgical Oncologist was live on PTV to address the concerns and question of the general public on the issue. This was followed by other TV appearances of our foreign qualified oncologists, Pathologists, Radiologist and surgeons to raise awareness on Self-checks, medical screening and treatment options.
On October 27th, Team Maroof was on-site at the U Microfinance Bank to educate female employees about the importance of screening and self-examination for early disease detection. The hospital organised an internal refresher session for its consultants on October 28th, with the goal of also guiding and counselling such patients. Maroof conducted online awareness sessions for British Council and Ufone employees during the last week of October. The final in a long series of events was an awareness session held in the PM Staff Colony Islamabad with cancer survivors as guests so that others could learn from their experiences and take better and more timely action.
Furthermore, Maroof International Hospital has been offering half-priced mammogram screening services from October 1st to December 31st, 2022, as well as free weekend consultations with its cancer experts and surgeons.
Given the lack of support groups in Pakistan, a support group programme for cancer patients and survivors has been established at Maroof International Hospital.
