Islamabad, 8 November 2022 (GNP/ TDI): Azerbaijan’s “Victory day” is celebrated in Islamabad, Pakistan, on the night of November 7, 2022. Khawaja Asif, Minister of Defence of Pakistan, was the Chief Guest at the event.

While addressing the audience, the minister of defense said that only regional connectivity would entirely change the region’s dynamics.

He also highlighted the severe consequences of the war on terror on Pakistan and the region’s connectivity and development.

He appreciated the aid and assistance given to Pakistan from Azerbaijan in august 2022 to the flood-affected people of Pakistan.

The minister also underscored the importance of regional connectivity regarding the energy crisis. Pakistan is state facing an energy crisis for a long time.

Azerbaijan has reasonable recourse for energy production and has offered Pakistan cooperation in the energy field to tackle the energy crisis.

Both states, by featuring economic policies, the region can achieve progress, connectivity, and cooperation. He also mentioned that both states have deep historical roots.

Victory Day of Azerbaijan was celebrated on November 8, 2022. The day is observed as a public holiday in the state. On December 2, 2020, the President of Azerbaijan announced this day as an annual national holiday. The day is celebrated in remembrance of Baku’s victory in the 2020 Nagorno-Karabakh war.

Armenia and Azerbaijan had a conflict over the Nagorno-Karabakh region. The conflict came to an end when both sides signed a ceasefire agreement.
