Islamabad, 26 Aug, 2023 (GNP): In a significant move to ensure ironclad security during the highly anticipated Asia Cup 2023, the federal cabinet has granted approval for the deployment of the Pakistan Army and Punjab Rangers in response to the Punjab government’s formal request. The government sources confirmed this pivotal decision in a Saturday announcement.
The Ministry of Interior, in a swift response to the Punjab government’s plea, promptly presented a summary to the federal cabinet for consideration. The cabinet, in an efficient circulation process, swiftly endorsed this request, assuring the nation of an unwavering commitment to safety and security.

From August 27th to September 6th, the Pakistan Army and Punjab Rangers will stand vigilant, safeguarding the proceedings of the Asia Cup 2023. Cricket enthusiasts across the globe can rest assured that the safety of players and spectators is paramount.
The much-awaited Asia Cup 2023 will unfold on August 30th, captivating cricket fans as it simultaneously graces Pakistan and Sri Lanka until September 17th. The journey commences with an exhilarating match-up between Pakistan and Nepal in Multan.
Reinforcing the security infrastructure, Punjab Rangers will be deployed as part of the second-tier Quick Reaction Forces (QRFs), while the Pakistan Army will maintain a third-tier QRF presence, sources said.

Moreover, dedicated special forces will remain on high alert, prepared to respond swiftly to any security concerns, sources added.
It’s worth noting that Pakistan will host four gripping matches of the Asia Cup between 30th August and 6th September. The tournament will begin with its first match in Multan, while the remaining three matches will take place at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore.
