Bangkok (GNP): Pakistan highlighted its experience in advancing the business and human rights agenda during the closing session of the United Nations Regional Forum on Business and Human Rights in Bangkok.
Minister of State for Law and Justice Aqeel Malik reflected on Pakistan’s business and human rights journey during the forum, emphasizing the importance of regional learning and cooperation in strengthening institutions and improving business practices.
The forum provided a platform for governments, businesses, civil society representatives and other stakeholders from across the Asia-Pacific region to discuss issues related to responsible business conduct and human rights.
During his remarks, Malik underscored the value of learning from experiences across the region. Such exchanges can provide countries with opportunities to examine different approaches to institutional development, corporate responsibility and the protection of workers and communities.
The minister also acknowledged the role of UNDP Pakistan and UNDP’s regional business and human rights initiative in supporting Pakistan’s National Action Plan on Business and Human Rights (NAP-BHR) journey.
