Islamabad (GNP): A delegation of participants from the Mid-Career Management Course (MCMC) at the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Peshawar, visited Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Wednesday for a briefing on the country’s foreign policy priorities, diplomatic engagements and the Ministry’s role in advancing national interests.
The visit brought together public-sector officials undergoing mid-career professional training with senior representatives of Pakistan’s diplomatic establishment.
Such engagements provide government officers with an opportunity to gain practical understanding of how different institutions contribute to policymaking and national governance.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the delegation was briefed by Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan, Spokesperson of the Ministry, on Pakistan’s foreign policy priorities and ongoing diplomatic engagements.
The briefing also covered the Ministry’s institutional role in advancing Pakistan’s national interests.
Ambassador Sajjad Haider Khan assumed charge as Spokesperson of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on September 2, 2026, and concurrently serves as Director General for South Asia and SAARC.
According to his official profile, he joined the Foreign Service of Pakistan in 2000 and has held several positions within the Ministry, as well as diplomatic assignments abroad.
The interaction comes as Pakistan remains engaged in bilateral, regional and multilateral diplomacy. In a recent Foreign Office briefing, the Ministry highlighted Pakistan’s continuing diplomatic engagement with international and regional partners, including its participation in the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation and efforts relating to regional peace, stability and economic cooperation.
For participants of the MCMC, exposure to institutions such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs can connect classroom-based public administration training with practical examples of government decision-making and inter-institutional coordination.

The National Institute of Public Administration, Peshawar is a constituent institution of the National School of Public Policy and conducts professional training programmes for civil servants.
Its Mid-Career Management Course is designed for mid-level public officials and focuses on leadership, administration and policymaking skills. The programme incorporates public policy seminars, case studies, simulations and research activities.
Peshawar’s current programme information lists the 47th MCMC among its 2026 training activities. The institute describes the MCMC as part of a wider system of professional development intended to prepare civil servants for greater responsibilities in public administration and policy implementation.
Visits by MCMC participants to federal institutions are also part of a broader pattern of field-based learning.
Earlier in 2026, officers from the 45th MCMC at NIPA Peshawar visited the Benazir Income Support Programme headquarters for field research, while another study visit took participants to the National Disaster Management Authority to learn about disaster governance, early-warning systems and response coordination.
The Foreign Office visit similarly provided participants with direct exposure to Pakistan’s diplomatic institutions and the processes through which foreign policy is communicated and implemented.
The engagement also reflects the importance of connecting public administration with foreign policy. Government officials working in different departments may encounter international issues through trade, development, security, climate policy, migration and regional cooperation.
Understanding the country’s diplomatic priorities can therefore contribute to broader institutional awareness among public-sector professionals.
The visit concluded with an interaction between the visiting delegation and Ministry officials, along with group photographs documenting the engagement.
The event provided a platform for participants to learn more about Pakistan’s diplomatic work while strengthening understanding between the country’s public administration training institutions and its foreign-policy establishment.
