Kazakhstan’s Deputy Foreign Minister met Saudi Ambassador

The two countries aimed at strengthening bilateral relations, and discussed the progress of ongoing projects

Astana, 6 September, 2023(GNP): Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kazakhstan, Alibek Bakaev, met with the ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Kazakhstan, on Wednesday. The meeting was part of the regular political consultations between Kazakhstan and Saudi Arabia.

During the meeting, both sides aimed at strengthening bilateral relations and fostering cooperation across diverse sectors. They discussed the prospects of cooperation between the two nations in areas including trade, investment, energy, tourism, culture, and education.

Additionally, they shared perspectives on regional and global matters of shared concern. These matters include Afghan situation, the Middle East peace process, the fight against terrorism and extremism, and the promotion of interfaith dialogue and tolerance.

At the meeting, the Saudi diplomat delivered to Kazakhstan Deputy Foreign Minister a message from Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince and Prime Minister, Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, for Kazakhstan’s President, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. In the message, the Saudi prince affirmed the Kingdom’s desire to strengthen extensive relations with Kazakhstan.

The parties also discussed current issues of bilateral and multilateral cooperation, including upcoming events. They also exchanged views on the recent working visit of the Head of State to Jeddah to participate in the first Summit of the Central Asia – Gulf Cooperation Council dialogue platform.

They also discussed the progress of projects which were agreed upon during President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s visit to Saudi Arabia in September 2022.

At the end of meeting, both sides agreed to continue efforts to enhance cooperation in numerous mutually advantageous domains between the two countries.
