Islamabad, 6 September, 2023 (GNP): Jiang Zaidong, a seasoned Chinese diplomat arrived in Pakistan on September 5 to officially assume charge of the office. Jiang Zaidong is posted as new Chinese ambassador to Pakistan.
Ambassador Jian Zaidong received a warm reception from Pakistani authorities and members of the embassy upon his arrival in Islamabad.
Officials present at the reception included Pang Chunxue, minister of the Embassy in Pakistan, Bao Zong, counsellor, and Mosavi, the deputy director of the Protocol Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan.

Mosavi welcomed the ambassador to his new post on behalf of the Pakistani government saying that Pakistan and China are all-weather strategic cooperative partners and “iron” friends, and that friendship with China is the consensus of all parties and strata in Pakistan. The Pakistani side will provide all facilities for Ambassador Jiang to perform his duties and jointly promote new progress in bilateral cooperation in various fields.
Career highlights of ambassador Jiang Zaidong in diplomatic service
Previously, Jiang Zaidong had served as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
According to his resume, Jiang Zaidong was born in February 1970 and joined the Asia Department of the Foreign Ministry in 1992.
Later, he served as Attaché and Third Secretary of the Embassy in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Third Secretary and Second Secretary of the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Second Secretary and First Secretary of the Embassy in the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, First Secretary, Deputy Director and Director of the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In 2010, Zaidong served as Counsellor at the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam and in 2014 as Counsellor at the Asian Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In 2017, Jiang Zaidong was appointed Deputy Director-General of the Asia Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and in 2018 he was appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of China to the Lao People’s Democratic Republic.
The former Chinese ambassador to Pakistan, Nong Rong, is currently a member of the Party Committee and assistant minister of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
