Beijing (GNP): China is preparing to host the second World Humanoid Robot Games in Beijing, bringing together a growing number of robotic systems and teams to demonstrate the latest advances in artificial intelligence, robotics and embodied intelligence.
According to the information shared by China Science, the Games are scheduled to begin on August 22 and will feature 2,056 robots representing 666 teams from 16 countries.
The event is expected to include 51 events and 1,301 competitions, significantly expanding the scale of the inaugural edition.
The competition highlights the rapid development of humanoid robotics and the increasing ability of machines to perform tasks that require movement, coordination, decision making and fine manipulation.
The Games are designed not simply as a sporting spectacle but also as a platform for demonstrating how robotics technology is moving toward practical applications.
Humanoid robots are increasingly being developed for environments such as factories, hospitals, homes, logistics facilities and emergency-response settings.
The first World Humanoid Robot Games were held in Beijing in August 2025. That inaugural event attracted more than 500 humanoid robots and 280 teams from 16 countries and regions, competing across 26 disciplines.

The second edition represents a substantial expansion of the event.
Organizers have placed greater emphasis on embodied intelligence and fine manipulation, reflecting the industry’s shift from basic demonstrations toward robots capable of interacting with complex real-world environments.
The 2026 Games will also provide an international platform for researchers, engineers, technology companies and robotics teams to exchange ideas and test new technologies.
The development is significant for China as it continues to strengthen its position in the global robotics and artificial-intelligence sector.

The country’s previous humanoid robot competitions have demonstrated applications ranging from football and athletics to material handling, medicine sorting, cleaning and other practical tasks.
With thousands of robots expected to participate, the second World Humanoid Robot Games could offer a glimpse into the future of human machine interaction.
Beyond competition, the event demonstrates how rapidly robotics is moving from laboratories and research facilities toward real world applications.
The Games are scheduled to take place in Beijing from August 22 to 26, 2026, marking another major step in the development of humanoid robotics and embodied artificial intelligence.
