TikToker Sana Yousaf Murder Case: Accused Umar Hayat Sentenced to Death

ISLAMABAD GNP: The Islamabad District and Sessions Court has announced its verdict in the murder case of well-known TikToker Sana Yousaf, sentencing the accused, Umar Hayat, to death. The court also imposed a fine of PKR 2 million on the convict.

Additional Sessions Judge Afzal Majoka delivered the verdict on May 19, 2026. The court stated that substantial scientific evidence, along with call records and chat screenshots, had been presented on record against the accused.

During final arguments, the prosecution maintained that there was undeniable evidence against Umar Hayat and argued that, given the severity of the crime, he did not deserve any leniency. The prosecution requested the death penalty, which the court accepted, subsequently sentencing the accused to death.

During the proceedings, Umar Hayat denied the charges and claimed that he had no contact with Sana Yousaf. He further alleged that his confessional statement was fabricated. The accused told the court that he had been arrested on June 3 from Jaranwala solely on the basis of suspicion.

The defense counsel also expressed a lack of confidence in the trial court and has already filed two petitions before the Islamabad High Court, on which a decision has been reserved.

It is worth noting that 17-year-old TikToker Sana Yousaf was shot dead at her residence in Sector G-13, Islamabad, on June 2, 2025. The case attracted significant attention on social media and sparked widespread public discussion.

In its verdict, the court emphasized that such crimes create fear and insecurity within society and that effective measures are necessary to prevent such incidents.
