Uzbekistan launches new system to safe tourism

Tashkent 4th June, 2020( GNP): President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a decree “On urgent measures to support the tourism industry to reduce the negative impact of the coronavirus pandemic.”

Aziz Abduhakimov, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the State Committee for Tourism Development commented on the decree issued by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan on May 28, 2013, provides for the implementation of important incentives and measures aimed at supporting market participants.

The decree consists of different kinds of measures for tourism.

Promoting mini-brands of regions, cities, and tourist centers is an important step in this direction. These mini-brands are based on the gastronomic, handicraft, agro, eco, cultural and historical features of a particular city or district. Each region of Uzbekistan should be known in the tourism market for its unique and memorable features. The current pandemic has reaffirmed the importance of digitalization and the introduction of IT technologies in the tourism industry. Undoubtedly, Uzbekistan is also actively working in this direction. For example, online-tourism.uz has been created for tourists, entrepreneurs, and young startups.

In general, Uzbekistan is implementing a new system of safe tourism, and its rules do not cause too much concern for all participants in the tourism industry.

Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the World Tourism Organization, and the participants of the online international conference praised the work of the President and the Government of Uzbekistan in this regard. It should be noted that Zurab Pololikashvili and Aziz Abduhakimov regularly exchange views on the mitigation of coronavirus complications during the pandemic. This indicates that a close and trusting relationship has been established between the WTO and the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
