Senate Chairman Condemns Terrorist Attack on Check Post in Tank

Islamabad (GNP): Senate Chairman Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has condemned the terrorist attack on a joint security check post in Tank district, which resulted in the deaths of several security personnel, expressing deep grief over the loss of life and paying tribute to those killed in the line of duty.

Gilani said such acts of terrorism cannot weaken the resolve of the Pakistani people, stressing that those responsible would ultimately fail, as the nation stands united behind its armed forces in the fight against terrorism.

He emphasized that terrorism has no religious or moral justification, and reaffirmed Pakistan’s unequivocal condemnation of terrorism in all its forms, regardless of where it occurs.

He expressed confidence that Pakistan’s security forces would continue their operations against militant elements and that those behind the attack would eventually be brought to justice.

He also extended condolences to the families of those killed, praying for the recovery of the injured and for strength for the grieving families during this difficult time.

Details of the Attack

According to security officials, the attack was carried out by militants affiliated with the group referred to as Fitna al-Khawarij, described as being backed by India, who attempted to breach the joint police check post in Tank district.

Security forces responded swiftly, repelling the assault and killing twelve of the attackers.

In a final attempt, the militants rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into the check post’s perimeter wall, causing significant damage to the facility.

The resulting blast claimed the lives of fifteen personnel, including twelve military members, two police officers, and one official from the forest department.

Authorities said a follow-up operation is underway to clear the area of any remaining militants, as part of the broader counter-terrorism campaign under the “Azm-e-Istehkam” initiative, approved by the Federal Apex Committee on the National Action Plan.
