New Delhi, 30 November 2023,(GNP): In a surprising move, Skipper Rohit Sharma and powerhouse batter Virat Kohli have made the decision to skip the white-ball segment of India’s upcoming tour of South Africa, as confirmed by the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The dynamic duo, Rohit and Kohli, played significant roles in India’s journey to the recent Cricket World Cup final, where the team faced a tough defeat against Australia in the 50-overs format.
However, their absence from the three-match T20 series that commences on December 10 in Durban will see Suryakumar Yadav taking the reins and leading the side.
Set to extend until January 7, the tour encompasses a thrilling itinerary featuring three T20Is, three ODIs, and two Tests.

During the ODIs, wicketkeeper-batsman KL Rahul will step into leadership responsibilities, showcasing his mettle and tactical prowess.
The BCCI’s official statement released on Thursday confirmed the voluntary request made by Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli for a much-needed break during the white-ball leg of the tour.
This strategic decision allows the seasoned players to rejuvenate and return invigorated for the subsequent challenge of the two-test series.
The temporary absence of these stalwarts opens up an exciting chapter for Indian cricket, offering emerging talents a platform to showcase their skills and contribute significantly to the team’s journey in the upcoming series against South Africa.
