Palestinian flag is a terror-symbol, says Ben-Gvir

The Israeli minister for national security, Ben-Gvir ordered the Police official for the removal of the Palestinian flags from the public space. This called the Palestinian flag a symbol of terror.

Gaza, 7 January 2023 (GNP):  The Israeli minister for national security has ordered the Israeli police officials to remove the Palestinian flags hoisted in the public place. He called the Palestinian flag a symbol of terrorism.

Earlier this week, the visit of far-right Likud Party minister for national security Ben-Gvir to the holy site caused too much tension and uproar not only among the Palestinian but also in the Muslim community at large.

This visit was considered to be a litmus test to check the temperament of the Palestinian but also of the Muslim world as move what would be their reaction if Israel changes the status quo of the holy site.

The point to be mentioned is that according to Israeli law hoisting the Palestinian flag in public places is not forbidden but the Israeli police and security officials could remove Palestinian flags if they found that could cause a law and order situation.

This directive of the minister for national security came at a time when a Palestinian prisoner sentenced for kidnapping and killing an Israeli soldier in 1983 received a heroic welcome in his village in northern Israel after his release from jail.

Ben- Gvir termed this welcome and flag waving to the released prisoner as a support for terrorism. The protection and safety of Israel and the Israeli people is the foremost responsibility which is why I directed the Police the removal of Palestinian flags from public places, this is what was said by the national minister for security Ben-Gvir.

Palestinians who are the descendants of Arabs make up one-fifth of Israel’s whole population living in the country after its creation in 1948. Their place in the politics and society of Israel is always debated. They try to balance them with their dual identities, but more often they are called Palestinians.
