Pakistani community in Vienna supports earthquake affectees of Turkiye and Syria

The community members shared details of their efforts and contributions to the relief efforts.

Vienna, 5 march 2023 (GNP): In order to strengthen shared efforts of Pakistani community to aid those impacted by the tragic earthquakes in Turkey and Syria last month, the Pakistani Embassy in Vienna convened a community gathering today.

Community members discussed their involvement in and contributions to the relief effort in detail. The group evaluated the Embassy’s and the Pakistani Community’s contributions to aiding Turkish and Syrian brothers and sisters in Vienna and discussed the best course of action moving forward to maximise aid to those affected.

Ambassador Aftab Khokher praised community members in his speech for their generous donations and their leadership in the cause of aiding the impacted people. The ambassador said that Pakistan and Turkey have always had close ties and have supported one another in all circumstances.

He continued by saying that the Syrian and Turkish earthquake victims had received the full support of the Pakistani government and people. Following the earthquake, the government of Pakistan swiftly dispatched rescue crews and aid supplies to the two friendly countries. He also emphasised the assistance given by Vienna’s Turkish community during Pakistan’s devastation floods the previous year.

Members of the community reaffirmed their commitment to helping those affected by the earthquake during the rehabilitation phase. It was determined that additional Ramazan events would be planned by the Embassy in collaboration with the local community to increase support for the earthquake victims.
