PM Shahbaz Sharif to Speak at 5th UN Conference on LDC

UN Conference on LDC brings together representatives from the world's 46 least developed countries.

Doha, 6 March 2023 (GNP): Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will address 5th United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries in Doha today. Prime minister reached Qatar on March 5 to attend the conference upon the invitation of the Ameer of Qatar which will continue to March 9.

The aim of the conference is to accelerate the sustainable development in the least developed countries. Prime minister will also meet the world leaders on the side-lines of the conference who are attending the conference.

The United Nations Conference on the Least Developed Countries (LDCs) is a forum that brings together representatives from the world’s 46 least developed countries as well as development partners, donors, and other stakeholders.

The conference is held every ten years to review the progress made by the LDCs in achieving sustainable development goals and to identify new ways to support their development needs.
The conference focuses on a range of issues, including poverty reduction, economic growth, climate change, sustainable development, access to education and healthcare, and good governance.

The conference is organized by the United Nations Office of the High Representative for the Least Developed Countries, Landlocked Developing Countries and Small Island Developing States (UN-OHRLLS) and is supported by various UN agencies, as well as other development partners and stakeholders.
