Islamabad (GNP): Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Attaullah Tarar reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening its close relationship with Türkiye while addressing a ceremony marking the 10th anniversary of Türkiye’s Democracy and National Unity Day.
Tarar described Pakistan-Türkiye relations as a deep, brotherly bond that has grown stronger over time. He paid tribute to the 250 individuals who lost their lives defending Turkish democracy, expressing solidarity with their families and noting that such sacrifices continue to inspire nations to face adversity with courage.
He credited President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan’s leadership with helping Türkiye emerge as a significant economic and defense power, and recalled experiencing the warmth of Pakistan-Türkiye friendship firsthand during a recent visit to Istanbul.
He noted that the two countries have consistently supported each other during difficult periods — with Pakistan backing Türkiye’s positions on international matters, and Türkiye consistently voicing support for Pakistan’s stance on the Jammu and Kashmir dispute.

Tarar described the friendship between the two nations as a valuable legacy passed down through generations, rooted in strong people-to-people connections.
He thanked Turkish leadership for the warmth shown toward Pakistani citizens, noting that Pakistanis visiting Türkiye are consistently welcomed with respect, and expressed confidence that the relationship would continue to grow in the years ahead.

Turkish Ambassador’s Remarks
Türkiye’s Ambassador to Pakistan, Dr. İrfan Neziroğlu, also addressed the ceremony commemorating July 15 Democracy and National Unity Day, reflecting on the significance of the day in Turkish history and honoring those who defended democracy during the events it commemorates. The event was attended by Minister Tarar, Pakistani citizens, and ambassadors from other allied nations.
Neziroğlu described Pakistan-Türkiye relations as deeply rooted in shared history and mutual trust, noting that cooperation between the two countries continues to expand across political, economic, defense, cultural, and educational domains. He expressed confidence that the partnership would continue to strengthen in the years to come.

He also paid tribute to those who lost their lives during the events being commemorated and thanked Turkish veterans for their service. He specifically thanked Pakistan for its solidarity with Türkiye during the 2016 coup attempt, including its decision to designate the Gülenist movement (FETÖ) as a terrorist organization, closing his remarks with an expression of continued Turkish-Pakistani brotherhood.
