Pak, Iran aim to strengthen economic and trade ties

Islamabad, 31 Aug, 2023 (GNP): Iranian Deputy Minister of Economics and Finance, Reza Bakhshi, engaged in discussions with Acting Secretary of Pakistan’s Ministry of Economic Affairs, Humair Karim, to fortify cooperation and enhance economic ties between the two nations.

The meeting aimed to mutually benefit both countries through strengthened economic collaboration.

Acting Secretary Karim warmly welcomed Bakhshi, reaffirming Pakistan’s dedication to nurturing the longstanding and friendly relationship between the neighboring countries. He emphasized Pakistan’s eagerness to reinforce these ties, fostering expanded trade and economic prospects.

Karim commended the significant strides achieved since the 21st Joint Economic Committee (JEC) meeting held in August 2022 between Pakistan and Iran.

In the spirit of continuity, both sides agreed to conduct bilateral dialogues and subsequent sessions to execute decisions made during the 21st JEC, preparing for the upcoming 22nd JEC set to take place in Iran.

Reza Bakhshi echoed Iran’s strong enthusiasm for intensifying collaboration across various domains, encompassing joint development projects, investments, banking systems, and trade relations with Pakistan.
