Pak-Iran-Turkey trade routes can be pivotal to China’s BRI project

The Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul Road Transport Corridor intended to modify regional trade and strengthen relationships among them.

Lahore, 29 Aug, 2023 (GNP): The President of the Pakistan-China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCJCCI), Moazzam Ghurki chaired an effective think-tank meeting focused on the three-party trade ties among Pakistan, Turkey, and China, on Monday.

Ghurki stated in the meeting that the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul Road Transport Corridor intended to modify regional trade and strengthen relationships between Pakistan, Iran, Turkey, and China through the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

He also highlighted that the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) and the BRI projects have given a new leaf to these alliances, establishing a platform of opportunities for both Turkey and Pakistan.

“Turkey’s exports to China will find a streamlined path through Pakistan, ushering goods efficiently towards Chinese markets,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the Senior Vice President of PCJCCI, Fang Yulong, reiterated that Turkish investments in Pakistan have exceeded a startling $1 billion. Their alliance reaches various sectors such as defense, education, health science, technology, and tourism as foregrounded by the newly signed Strategic Economic Framework agreement.

Moreover, the Vice President of PCJCCI, Hamza Khalid recommended Pakistan to strategically amend its preferences by its strong bilateral association with Turkey. He also emphasized the in-progress cooperative initiatives like the Trans-Afghan Railway project, CASA-1000, and the TAPI gas pipeline that has full potential to upraise Pakistan’s link with Western Asia and Europe.

Furthermore, the Secretary General of PCJCCI, Salahuddin Hanif, underscored the geopolitical outcomes of Pakistan’s economic challenges, urging that they increase across domestic boundaries. He also noted that the challenge exists in constructing international relations that affiliate with economic aims and objectives without hazarding the scope of China’s regional development programme.
