European Union aids Pakistan

EU will give €87m to Pakistan for green economic growth.

Islamabad, 11 December 2023 (GNP): According to a press release issued by the European Union on Monday, January 9, 2023, , three agreements were signed by Dr. Kazim Niaz, Secretary Ministry of Economic Affairs Division, and Dr. Riina Kionka who’s the ambassador of the European Union.

The agreements were for development programs in Pakistan which includes funding of €87 million to support green and inclusive economic growth in Pakistan.

The Ambassador of the EU (European Union) concluded by saying: “Our support comes at a crucial moment as the country is grappling with an economic crisis and people are still struggling with the effects of the terrible floods. We hope that the three programmes signed today contribute to economic recovery in the aftermath of the floods and make Pakistan stronger and more resilient.”

These programmes will also target post-flood rehabilitation and reconstruction of the damaged infrastructure of the country. The main areas of development will be Balochistan, Gilgit Baltistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa with the goal of improving the agriculture sector, providing clean energy and developing a skilled labor force.
