Islamabad, 25 Aug, 2023 (GNP): The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) has issued a commemorative coin to mark the 75th anniversary of Pak-US diplomatic ties.
The launch in Islamabad featured American Ambassador Donald Blome as the chief guest. The SBP announced the release of the Rs75 coin in a post on X formerly known as Twitter.
Representing the enduring Pak-US relationship grounded in democratic values, collaboration, and shared interests, the coin symbolizes historical connections. At the ceremony attended by Foreign Secretary Syrus Sajjad Qazi and SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad, the US envoy highlighted the coin’s significance in signifying shared values and future commitment.

Furthermore, Donald Blome praised the gesture and expressed optimism in initiatives like the US-Pakistan Green Alliance. The Foreign Secretary emphasized the coin’s portrayal of democratic foundations uniting Pakistan and the USA, acknowledging their mutually beneficial rapport.
SBP Governor Jameel Ahmad stressed the coin’s value as a reflection of bilateral importance. He noted robust economic ties including trade, investments, finance, and remittances, as well as strong people-to-people bonds, particularly in education.

Moreover, Jameel Ahmad anticipated growth in Pakistan’s fintech sector, hoping for US fintech firms to explore and invest in opportunities offered by these growing businesses.
The coin, featuring a milled round shape, diameter of 30.00 mm, a weight of 13.5 grams, and Cupro-Nickel composition, will be available from 25 August, 2023, at the exchange counters of SBP Banking Services Corporation.
The commemorative coin encapsulates 75 years of the Pakistan-US relationship, showcasing mutual cooperation and shared progress.
