Lahore, 26 September, 2023(GNP): Pakistan cricket team’s captain, Babar Azam, conveyed confidence and unity during a press conference before the team’s departure for India to compete in the ICC World Cup 2023.
Azam highlighted the team’s thorough preparation and unwavering commitment to giving their best in the upcoming tournament. Despite recent setbacks in the Asia Cup, he pointed out that Pakistan had previously held the top global ranking due to the players’ dedication and hard work. He also expressed a strong determination not to repeat past mistakes during the World Cup.
With a week of preparation before the World Cup, the Captain assured that the team felt no undue pressure. He also mentioned that the final playing combination would be decided on the match day.
He stressed the need for continuous improvement, particularly in fielding skills and taking wickets during the middle overs. He expressed confidence that the team would not be affected by added pressure while playing in India.

Regarding Hasan Ali’s inclusion in the squad, he explained that the decision was made after careful consideration. He acknowledged Naseem Shah’s absence and highlighted the productive partnership between Shaheen Afridi and Naseem Shah. However, the decision on the opening bowler remained pending.
Babar Azam concluded by expressing the team’s ambition to win all nine matches in the World Cup and hoped for the support of Indian cricket fans.
