Lahore, 27 November 2023,(GNP): The Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) on Monday issued arrest orders for Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) leader Marriyum Aurangzeb in a hate speech case, directing authorities to produce the former minister in court on December 9.
ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan issued a warrant for the arrest of the PML-N leader and directed the relevant station house officer (SHO) to implement the arrest orders.
A non-bailable arrest warrant was issued for the former information minister due to her failure to appear in court.
A terrorism case has been filed against Aurangzeb, Mian Javed Latif, Sohail Khan (Managing Director of state-run Pakistan Television), and others. They are accused of attempting to incite hatred by employing religious sentiments against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan.

In the prior hearing, the ATC judge revoked the non-bailable arrest warrant against Mian Javed Latif upon his court appearance. On November 25, Advocate Farhad Ali Shah, representing Javed Latif and Marriyum Aurangzeb, presented before the court.
During the session, Judge Khan asked about the PML-N leaders’ whereabouts, learning that Latif had appeared, while Aurangzeb had not.
As a result, the judge issued a non-bailable arrest warrant for the former information minister and instructed all individuals implicated in the case to attend the court proceedings on December 9.
In her defense, Aurangzeb asserted that she played no role in the alleged incitement through her speeches in talk shows. She distanced herself from any claims made against her during these shows, emphasizing her innocence and requesting acquittal.
