Islamabad (GNP): Director General Inter-Services Public Relations Lieutenant General Ahmed Sharif Chaudhry has reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to the security and sovereignty of Saudi Arabia, saying Islamabad stands with the Kingdom both diplomatically and physically.
Speaking in an interview with Arab News, the DG ISPR said Pakistan would go “to any extent” required to defend Saudi Arabia and protect the two holiest Islamic sites in Makkah and Madinah.
He emphasized that Pakistan’s commitment to Saudi security remained unconditional. The remarks come amid heightened regional tensions and a series of missile and drone attacks affecting Saudi Arabia.
According to reporting on the interview, Chaudhry said Pakistan was already present in the Kingdom and would continue to support the protection of Saudi Arabia and the Haramain Sharifain.
“Pakistan fully stands with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, both diplomatically and physically,” the military spokesperson said. The statement represents a strong reaffirmation of the longstanding relationship between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The two countries have maintained close political, economic, religious and defence ties over decades, while their governments have regularly emphasized cooperation on regional security and stability.
Chaudhry said Pakistan’s commitment extended beyond diplomatic support and included its existing security responsibilities in the Kingdom. He also emphasized that the Pakistani people stood alongside their Saudi counterparts.
The DG ISPR further said that Pakistan’s political and military leadership remained in continuous communication with the Saudi leadership. According to his remarks, Islamabad was also engaging with regional countries and other stakeholders in an effort to seek a negotiated and peaceful outcome to the wider regional crisis.
The security situation has become more complicated amid attacks attributed by Saudi authorities and international reporting to Yemen’s Houthi movement.

Recent incidents have included missile and drone activity affecting Saudi territory. Arab News reported that an intercepted drone had also approached restricted airspace around Makkah, while other attacks had affected areas and infrastructure inside the Kingdom.
Against this backdrop, Pakistan has emphasized both its bilateral obligations and its diplomatic efforts.
The DG ISPR referred to commitments made under agreements between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia and stressed the importance of continued coordination between the two countries.
The remarks also highlight the wider diplomatic challenge facing Islamabad. While Pakistan has reiterated its commitment to Saudi security, it has simultaneously indicated that it supports diplomatic engagement aimed at reducing regional tensions and finding a peaceful settlement.
The statement comes at a time when the security of Saudi Arabia and the protection of the Haramain Sharifain have become increasingly prominent issues in regional diplomacy.
For Pakistan, the relationship with Saudi Arabia carries significance at political, economic, religious and defence levels.The DG ISPR’s comments therefore combine two elements of Pakistan’s stated position: continued support for Saudi Arabia’s security and sovereignty, alongside efforts to encourage dialogue and a negotiated resolution to the broader regional crisis.
The comments were subsequently reported by Pakistani media, with the Associated Press of Pakistan describing the commitment as extending to both diplomatic and physical support.
Radio Pakistan likewise reported that Pakistan would continue to defend Saudi Arabia against aggression and emphasized the protection of Makkah and Madinah.
