Lahore, 28 January 2020 (GNP) : The US consulate in Lahore plans to render new services for the citizens of Lahore,says a US consol General Catherine Rodriguez to a state run APP.She said, “It is only possible if the Lahore consulate is moved in a new building as the current building housing the U.S. consulate was built in 1933 and is too cramped to start new services,” more than 25000 people from Punjab travel to Islamabad or Karachi for their Visa process.
During her interview she stated that youth development and women empowerment were her key priorities as 50 percent of the population of Pakistan consist of women.Women must have faith in themselves and do their best to challenge barriers fearlessly,” she said.
The Consol General herself hold a master degree in environmental science and policy and intends to resolve the environmental issues in the capital of Punjab.She further reiterated that US had already allocated $2million for the preservation of the Punjab heritage.
On education she said that US had been supporting Pakistani students for a long time and in future it would support the students through myriad scholarships and research grants. (GNP)
