Two policemen guarding polio team martyred in Quetta

The polio team members were safe in the attack.

Quetta, 1 Aug, 2023 (GNP): The two policemen guarding a polio vaccination team were martyred when the gunmen opened fire on them in the Nawa Killi area of Quetta on Tuesday, according to the Balochistan police.

This unfortunate incident happened on the first day of a week-long campaign to conduct the polio vaccination for over 2.5 million children under five years of age in the province of Balochistan.

According to the Zarghoonabad Station House Officer (SHO), Asif Marwat, the martyred police officers were identified as Syed Muhammad and Constable Shaukat Ali.

He further stated that the polio team members were completely safe and did not sustain injuries in the violent attack. The wave of tension in Nawa Killi and its surrounding areas put the polio campaign at a halt.
