Shahid Afridi asked for India-Pakistan cricket resumption

Afridi urges politicians to resolve Indo-Pak cricket issue through dialogue

Islamabad, 21 March 2023 (GNP): Shahid Afridi, a former captain of Pakistan, recently shared his opinions on the situation and urged politicians to communicate with one another to find a solution.

Afridi thinks that India’s participation in the Asia Cup, which was slated to take place in Pakistan, would have been a move in the right direction to strengthen ties between the two countries.

“The biggest issue is that we don’t discuss and sit down together. Politicians ought to get together and converse just as we are doing now. They are under a lot of obligation”, added Shahid Afridi.

“India’s arrival would have been absolutely lovely. It would have been a step in India’s direction towards cricket and Pakistan. We want to see relationships get better; this is not a generation of conflicts and battles. With much love and affection, we have played India. I recall that when we visited India, the reception was excellent”, he added.

He recalled the 2005 India-Pakistan series, where the players from both teams were shown love and respect.

“If you watched the 2005 series, you would recall that Yuvraj and Harbhajan used to dine out and buy without being charged. The beauty of the two countries is as shown here”, the speaker concluded.

According to some sources, India and Pakistan may soon reach a settlement.

Currently, it is believed that Pakistan will play at home while India plays its games in the United Arab Emirates. If India advances to the final, the match will take place in the United Arab Emirates. However, this arrangement has not yet received official confirmation.
