During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner Attock, Deputy Commissioner Chakwal, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Rawalpindi informed the participants about the verification, documentation, and management of government properties under their jurisdictions. Commissioner Engr. Aamer Khattak directed all concerned officers to speed up the verification process and ensure that every property related issue is resolved within the prescribed timelines.

He instructed district administrations to maintain close coordination, improve follow up mechanisms, and complete all assigned responsibilities efficiently. The Commissioner stated that better management of government properties would enhance transparency, improve public administration, and support future development initiatives throughout the Rawalpindi Division.

In a separate session, the Commissioner conducted a detailed review of the proposed Ring Road Project, which is one of the most significant infrastructure projects in Punjab. Director Engineering RDA Komal Chaudhry presented the feasibility study prepared by NESPAK and briefed the participants on the project’s planning, technical assessments, and preliminary findings.

Commissioner Engr. Aamer Khattak directed all relevant departments to carefully address planning, engineering, financial, environmental, and administrative matters to ensure the smooth and timely implementation of the Ring Road Project. He stressed that strong coordination among all stakeholders would help avoid delays and ensure successful completion of the project.

Ring Road Project Expected to Improve Connectivity

The Ring Road Project is a modern thirty eight point three kilometre six lane controlled access highway designed to reduce traffic congestion in Rawalpindi by diverting heavy commercial and intercity vehicles away from the city’s busiest roads. The highway will connect GT Road near Rawat with the Islamabad Lahore Motorway M Two, creating a faster and safer transport corridor for commuters and commercial traffic.

The project is estimated to cost between forty seven and fifty billion rupees and is expected to play a major role in improving transportation, urban planning, and economic activity across the region. Officials believe the highway will significantly reduce travel time while supporting future industrial and commercial growth.

The project begins from Baanth on GT Road and extends to the Thalian Interchange on the M Two Motorway. It includes five major interchanges located at Baanth, Chak Beli Khan, Adiala Road, Chakri Road, and Thalian. Designed for vehicle speeds of up to one hundred and twenty kilometres per hour, the Ring Road Project is being executed by the Rawalpindi Development Authority and constructed by the Frontier Works Organization.

Besides improving traffic flow, the project is expected to encourage investment by supporting industrial zones, logistics facilities, and commercial development along its route, creating new employment opportunities and strengthening the regional economy.

According to officials, construction of the Ring Road Project has crossed ninety percent completion, with most earthwork, bridges, and major structural components already completed. Work is currently focused on finishing the main carriageways, completing road infrastructure, and expanding important interchanges, particularly the Thalian Interchange, before the highway is opened for public use.

The meeting was attended by Additional Commissioner Rawalpindi Ms. Xenia Humayun, Additional Director General RDA Masood Ahmad Bukhari, Deputy Project Director Ashfaq Sulheri, Chief Planner Muhammad Tahir Meo, Director Administration Nosheen Israr, and other senior officials. The participants were also informed that feasibility studies for the second phase have already been initiated, which will extend the Ring Road Project by more than thirty kilometres from Thalian to Sangjani, further improving regional connectivity, supporting CPEC routes, and encouraging future economic development.
