Islamabad (GNP): Federal Minister for the Board of Investment (BOI), Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh, met with representatives of the Sundar Green Special Economic Zone (SEZ) at BOI headquarters.
The delegation included MNA Rana Muhammad Hayat, along with the zone’s management team — Chief Executive Officer Azeem Iftikhar, Managing Director Muhammad Abid, and Director Rana Faisal Hayat.
BOI Secretary Jamil Qureshi, Additional Secretary Zulfiqar Ali, and other senior BOI officials also attended the meeting.
The Federal Minister welcomed the visiting delegation and acknowledged their role in advancing industrial development in Pakistan. In turn, the delegation thanked the Minister for making time to meet with them and expressed appreciation for BOI’s ongoing support in facilitating investment.
The discussion centered on developments related to Sundar Green SEZ, with both the Minister and Secretary BOI praising the management team’s work in building a modern, environmentally sustainable industrial zone — one they described as a model for other SEZs across the country.
Turning to the broader importance of industrialization, the Federal Minister said Pakistan’s economic future depends on export-driven growth.
He pointed to China’s rapid economic rise as an example Pakistan could learn from, and referenced established industrial players like Challenge Fashion to underline how vital manufacturing and exports are to strengthening the national economy.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to encouraging investment and industrial growth through supportive policies and facilitation measures, noting that Special Economic Zones offer strong incentives — including tax breaks and simplified business processes — that make them a major driver of economic growth.
“BOI remains committed to facilitating investors at every stage and ensuring that any challenges faced by businesses are promptly addressed,” the Minister said.
Secretary BOI Jamil Qureshi echoed this commitment, pledging full institutional backing. The Minister also invited the delegation to put forward any suggestions for further improving Pakistan’s investment climate.
Both sides agreed that export-focused industrial growth represents the right path for Pakistan’s long-term economic development, and the meeting closed with a shared pledge to deepen collaboration and position SEZs as key drivers of economic progress.
