PTF to Host 2 ITF W15,000 USD Women's Futures Tournaments

Islamabad (GNP): The Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) has announced a landmark double-header for women’s tennis in the country, with two consecutive International Tennis Federation W15,000 USD Women’s Futures tournaments scheduled to take place in Islamabad from 5th October 2026, immediately preceding the Billie Jean King Cup.

The announcement represents a first in Pakistani tennis history — never before have two back-to-back ITF Women’s Futures events of this category been staged on home soil. The initiative underscores PTF’s growing ambition to elevate women’s tennis and bring meaningful international competition opportunities directly to Pakistani players.

PTF President Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi highlighted the significance of the occasion, drawing a parallel with the Federation’s earlier efforts on the men’s side. “We built strong platforms for our male players through ITF Men’s Futures tournaments, and now we are taking that same commitment forward for our women,” he said. “Hosting two ITF W-15,000 USD Women’s Futures events in October gives our female players the chance to accumulate ranking points and gain genuine international exposure without leaving home.”

He further noted that the tournaments would spare Pakistan’s top women players the financial burden of international travel while simultaneously preparing them for the competitive demands of the upcoming Billie Jean King Cup.

A strong contingent of Pakistani women players is expected to benefit from the initiative, including Ushna Suhail, Mahin Aftab, Soha Ali, Romaisa Malik, Bismal Zia, Meheq Khokhar, Zunaisha Noor, Zainab Ali Raja, Fatima Ali Raja, Laibah Durab, and a number of other rising talents working their way through the ranks.

PTF Secretary General Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail echoed the sentiment, describing the back-to-back hosting arrangement as a major organizational achievement. “Staging two consecutive W-15,000 USD events at home will deliver substantial benefits to our players in terms of international experience and competitive development,” he said.
