Islamabad (GNP): A Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme (PMYP) and UN Women Pakistan during a ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office, chaired by PMYP Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan, aimed at deepening cooperation to advance the empowerment, leadership, and meaningful participation of young women across Pakistan.
The signing was attended by Chairman Rana Mashhood Ahmad Khan; Dr. Muhammad Ali Malik, Joint Secretary of PMYP; Jamshed Kazi, Country Representative of UN Women Pakistan; and Fahmida Iqbal Khan, Deputy Country Representative of UN Women Pakistan, along with other senior officials from both organizations.
The partnership is designed to strengthen collaboration and knowledge-sharing around women’s leadership, youth empowerment, and gender equality through technical cooperation, expertise exchange, joint programmes, and the sharing of best practices.
It will also work to embed gender-responsive approaches into youth development efforts — spanning leadership, employability, entrepreneurship, and civic engagement — by incorporating gender perspectives into relevant youth-focused policies and initiatives.
Through mentorship, networking opportunities, leadership training, and professional exposure, the collaboration aims to expand opportunities for young women while advancing Pakistan’s broader goals around youth development and gender equality.
Given the increasing significance of digital spaces, the partnership will also promote safe, responsible, and inclusive digital engagement among young people — particularly young women and girls — through initiatives centered on digital literacy, responsible online behavior, and digital citizenship.
