Islamabad (GNP) : Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated Rumen Radev on what he described as a “historic victory” in Bulgaria’s recent parliamentary elections.
In a post shared on X, the prime minister said Pakistan “values its cordial and friendly relations” with Bulgaria and expressed optimism for enhanced cooperation with the incoming government.
“I congratulate Rumen Radev on his historic victory in the recently held parliamentary elections in Bulgaria,” the prime minister said, adding that Pakistan looks forward to working closely with the new leadership to further strengthen bilateral ties.
According to official results, Radev’s Progressive Bulgaria party secured a decisive win, gaining around 44.7% of the vote, far ahead of its closest rivals. The outcome marks one of the strongest electoral performances in the country in recent years and could potentially bring an end to prolonged political instability marked by repeated elections.
The results also signal a shift in Bulgaria’s political landscape, with implications for its relations within the European Union and NATO, as well as its broader foreign policy direction.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif expressed hope that the new Bulgarian government would work with Pakistan to expand cooperation across multiple sectors, including trade, investment, and diplomatic engagement.
Pakistan has maintained friendly ties with Bulgaria and continues to seek stronger engagement with European partners as part of its broader diplomatic and economic outreach strategy.
