Islamabad (GNP): Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned an attempted drone attack near the Holy Site of Makkah Al-Mukarramah, expressing Pakistan’s full solidarity with Saudi Arabia in the aftermath of the incident.
The prime minister said the attack had left the people of Pakistan deeply saddened, describing it as an act that defied justification.
Sharif praised the Royal Saudi Armed Forces for their rapid and effective response, which prevented the drone from entering the prohibited airspace surrounding the Holy City.
He said, “We salute the extraordinary vigilance, courage, and professionalism of the Royal Saudi Armed Forces.” Saudi authorities have confirmed the drone was intercepted and destroyed before reaching restricted territory.
Building on his praise for Saudi forces, the prime minister turned to the wider regional context, urging all parties involved in regional tensions to exercise restraint and step away from further escalation.
