PCB proposed chief selector post to Mohammad Hafeez

The present chief selector of PCB, Haroon Rashid is reported to be dismissed from his post soon.

Lahore, 8 July, 2023 (GNP): The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) newly appointed chairman of the management committee Zaka Ashraf presented the post of the national team’s chief selector to the former Test cricketer Mohammad Hafeez on Friday, according to the sources.

As per the reports, Ashraf met Hafeez on Thursday to offer him the important post in the new set-up. The cricketer, who had retired in 2022 and now became an analyst, demanded some time to consider the offer.

The present chief selector of PCB, Haroon Rashid is reported to be dismissed from his post soon.

Meanwhile, Hafeez congratulated Ashraf for becoming the new head of PCB during the meeting.

“Zaka Ashraf is a good administrator. I honestly respect him a lot. I will consider a good offer to serve Pakistan cricket,” said Hafeez.

However, there were reports that aside from Hafeez many other former Test cricketers will possibly get prime positions in PCB. Mohsin Hassan Khan, Saleem Yousuf, Shoaib Akhtar and Younis Khan are currently under consideration.

The federal government appointed Ashraf as the new head of PCB on 5 July. The federal administration also approved the major changes in the committee through the circulation of a summary.

Moreover, Mahmood Iqbal was appointed new chief election commissioner replacing Ahmed Shehzad Farooq Rana.
