Islamabad, 30 Aug, 2023 (GNP): The Pakistan Bureau of Statistics (PBS) stated on Tuesday that it had already given all the required data related to the 7th Population and Housing Census to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
The facts of PBS based on the population census will be used for performing delimitation work for conducting the upcoming public polls. The ECP needs a minimum of 100 to 120 days to execute the delimitation exercise that dismisses the expectation of holding polls in 90 days.

In an official statement, the PBS expressed that the details comprise gazette notification of census charges, circles, blocks, color prints of digitized maps of 185,514 blocks, circles, charges (excluding Sindh), and census block-wise data. Although the color prints of the digitized maps of Sindh will be conveyed by 30 August, 2023.
The Council of Common Interests (CCI) ratified the results of the 7th Population and Housing Census in its 50th meeting led by former Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on 5 August, 2023.

The census data is significant for the delimitation of boundaries to hold general elections. In this respect, PBS was tasked with providing essential information to the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP).
This task was completed by providing the ECP with the necessary information during the meeting held at the Pakistan Bureau of Statistics on August 28, 2023, which was presided over by Chief Census Commissioner Dr. Naeemuz Zafar.
