Pakistan’s Army Chief vowed to eradicate terrorism to safeguard citizens

Rawalpindi, 7 Aug, 2023 (GNP): Army Chief General Asim Munir reiterated Pakistan’s steadfast commitment to eradicating terrorist networks and ensuring citizen safety.

In an interactive session held in Peshawar, Gen Munir engaged with tribal elders and notables from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa’s newly merged districts, stressing the imperative of adhering to state authority, according to ISPR.

With resolute determination, Gen Munir warned terrorists to comply with the rule of law or face elimination. He denounced the recent surge in terrorism as a futile attempt to restart talks, asserting that submission to Pakistan’s jurisdiction was their only viable path.

Commending the unified efforts of the Pakistan Army, Frontier Corps (FC), and law enforcement agencies, Gen Munir pledged to neutralize the Narco threat that sustains TTP Khawaraj. He also affirmed unwavering support for the armed forces, countering any anti-army propaganda.

Acknowledging the efforts of the brave tribesmen, officers, and soldiers, the army chief vowed that the sacrifices of the Shuhada would not go in vain and assured a tranquil Pakistan. Additionally, he applauded tribal communities for their resolute role in combating terrorism, reiterating Pakistan’s dedication to regional harmony. Expressing concerns about sanctuaries for banned groups in Afghanistan, Gen Munir underscored Pakistan’s resolute commitment to safeguarding its citizens.

In response, tribal elders rejected Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan and reaffirmed loyalty to the state. Gen Munir assured continuous army support, recognizing their sacrifices.

Furthermore, Gen Munir emphasized prioritizing youth and fostering tribal area development. He highlighted the potential for socio-economic progress, endorsed by the Special Investment Facilitation Council, and underscored the region’s transformation, facilitated by its abundant mines, minerals, and tourism.

Moreover, Gen Munir’s visit to Peshawar encompassed a poignant tribute at Yaadgar-e-Shuhada and a meaningful engagement with the Peshawar corps commander.
