Spinner Noman Ali emerged as the star of the match, claiming seven wickets helping Pakistan in securing an innings and 222-run win within four days of play at the Sinhalese Sports Club (SSC) ground.
After posting a massive total of 576-5, Pakistan declared their innings on day four, with Agha Salman’s unbeaten 132 and Abdullah Shafique’s career-best 201 setting the stage for the commanding lead.
Sri Lanka struggled to mount a comeback, managing just 166 in their first innings and eventually succumbing to an all-out score of 188 in the second.
Noman Ali’s sensational bowling performance proved to be the key factor as he spun a web around Sri Lanka’s batsmen, leaving them little chance of recovery. The Pakistani captain, Mohammad Rizwan, showcased his brilliance with a well-crafted half-century.
