Islamabad, 27 June, 2023 (GNP): The ICC has officially announced that the highly anticipated match between India and Pakistan at the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 will occur on October 15. The venue for this long-awaited clash is the famous Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad, India. This stadium will also host the opening and final games of the tournament.
The ICC revealed the complete schedule for the 50-over format tournament starting on October 5. The Narendra Modi Stadium, with its massive capacity of 132,000 seats, will be the stage for five matches, including the opening match between England and New Zealand and the grand finale on November 19.

Geoff Allardice, the Chief Executive Officer of the ICC, expressed his excitement, stating, “Hundreds of millions of fans around the world will be part of what we hope will be the greatest ever men’s cricket World Cup.” He acknowledged the unique and electric atmosphere that India would provide, especially in Ahmedabad, where the winners will lift the trophy in the world’s largest cricket stadium.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed they are awaiting clearance from Islamabad to participate in the clash. They are in contact with the government for guidance on the matter.
The tournament will span 46 days and feature ten teams competing across ten cities in India. Besides Ahmedabad, the matches will be held in Bangalore, Chennai, Delhi, Dharamsala, Hyderabad, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, and Pune. Each city will host five matches, except for Hyderabad, which will have three, including two of Pakistan’s league games.

The top four teams from the group stage will move on to the semifinals, which will be held in Mumbai and Kolkata. It’s important to note that Pakistan will not play any games in Mumbai. If they reach the semifinals, their match will take place in Kolkata. Similarly, if India makes it to the last four, their semifinal will be in Mumbai unless they face Pakistan.
