Pakistan President Visits Kyrgyzstan After 21 Years

Islamabad (GNP): President Asif Ali Zardari will travel to the Kyrgyz Republic from July 6-9, 2026, at the invitation of Kyrgyz President Sadyr Zhaparov, leading a senior delegation on what marks the first visit by a Pakistani head of state to Kyrgyzstan in 21 years.

The trip represents a significant moment in bilateral relations and follows President Zhaparov’s own visit to Pakistan in December 2025, continuing what officials describe as a steady rise in high-level exchanges between the two countries.

While there, Zardari is expected to hold one-on-one talks as well as broader delegation-level discussions with Zhaparov, covering the full range of Pakistan-Kyrgyzstan relations along with regional and global issues of shared concern. According to the foreign office, the talks are likely to center on expanding cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, energy, mining, agriculture, textiles, halal industry development, healthcare and pharmaceuticals, the digital economy, education, tourism, and exchanges between the two peoples.

The president is also scheduled to meet with the Speaker of Kyrgyzstan’s parliament during his stay, according to the statement.

Pakistan and Kyrgyzstan have maintained friendly relations since establishing formal diplomatic ties on May 10, 1992, and have regularly backed one another’s positions in international forums including the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, and the Organization of Islamic Cooperation. When Zhaparov visited Pakistan last year, the two countries signed 15 agreements and memoranda of understanding covering trade, energy, agriculture, education, customs data-sharing, and port logistics.

During the upcoming visit, the president will also hold a courtesy meeting with the Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament.

Pakistan and the Kyrgyz Republic share a warm, fraternal relationship built on common history, faith, culture, and shared goals for peace, connectivity, and prosperity across Central and South Asia.
