Pakistan, Bangladesh Vow to Strengthen Bilateral Cooperation

New York (GNP): Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif held a bilateral meeting with Bangladesh’s Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly in New York, with both leaders reviewing bilateral relations and expressing satisfaction over the positive momentum in Pakistan-Bangladesh ties.

Sharif congratulated Bangladesh on assuming the presidency of the 81st UNGA and pledged Pakistan’s support for Bangladesh’s efforts to advance UN objectives, reaffirming Pakistan’s determination to further deepen mutually beneficial relations between the two countries.

In response, Rahman expressed satisfaction with the positive direction of bilateral ties and noted his government’s strong interest in strengthening the relationship with Pakistan.

Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing cooperation in trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges, while also discussing regional and global developments and emphasizing the importance of continued coordination at multilateral forums, particularly the United Nations.

Following the meeting, Sharif shared a post on X noting that the two sides had agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation across trade, investment, connectivity, education, tourism, and people-to-people ties, while maintaining close coordination on regional and global issues as well as within multilateral platforms.

He also reiterated his congratulations to Bangladesh on assuming the UNGA presidency and reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the successful conduct of the Assembly’s proceedings.
