Pakistan AI PMOS Introduces Smarter Digital Government Management System

ISLAMABAD (GNP): Pakistan AI PMOS was officially launched by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif as the federal government introduced the Artificial Intelligence-based Prime Minister Office System (PMOS), marking a major step toward digital governance and technology-driven public administration.

Speaking at the launch ceremony at the Prime Minister’s Office, the prime minister described PMOS as a transformative digital platform that will modernize governance by recording, communicating, monitoring, and tracking every directive issued by the Prime Minister from its issuance to implementation and final verification.

Shehbaz Sharif directed all ministries, divisions, and government departments to adopt the new platform immediately. He stressed that the traditional paper-based system would gradually be replaced with digital processes to improve efficiency, transparency, and accountability across the federal government.

Addressing senior officials, the prime minister said that from now onward government affairs should move through the new digital mechanism instead of physical files. He emphasized that the platform would help ministries coordinate more effectively and ensure that official decisions are implemented without unnecessary delays.

The prime minister appreciated the efforts of Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication Shaza Fatima Khawaja, Secretary IT, and the technical teams responsible for developing and operationalizing the AI-powered platform. Senior cabinet members, including Minister for Economic Affairs Ahad Khan Cheema, attended the launch ceremony.

Officials briefed the prime minister that PMOS is the first government platform in Pakistan to integrate artificial intelligence as a core component of decision-making, implementation monitoring, and policy evaluation. The system has been designed to provide real-time tracking of official directives while generating structured digital records for future reference.

The government stated that the platform would facilitate continuous policy calibration by enabling authorities to utilize financial, technological, and human resources more efficiently. Officials believe the system will improve service delivery, reduce administrative delays, strengthen institutional coordination, and generate better governance outcomes.

At the core of PMOS is a comprehensive digital repository that records every directive issued by the Prime Minister together with the complete implementation process. This creates a permanent institutional knowledge base while allowing senior officials to monitor progress through a centralized dashboard.

The launch forms part of Pakistan’s broader digital transformation agenda aimed at modernizing public administration through emerging technologies. The government expects artificial intelligence to improve decision-making, enhance transparency, strengthen accountability, and increase the overall efficiency of federal institutions.

The introduction of PMOS represents one of Pakistan’s most ambitious digital governance initiatives. By integrating artificial intelligence into administrative processes, the government seeks to replace manual paperwork with data-driven decision-making and real-time monitoring.

If implemented effectively across all ministries, the platform could significantly improve policy execution, reduce bureaucratic inefficiencies, and establish greater accountability within the federal government. However, its long-term success will depend on cybersecurity, institutional capacity, staff training, and consistent adoption across government departments.
