Pak, Germany Conclude Strategic Dialogue on Development Cooperation

Islamabad (GNP):  The Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the Government of Pakistan successfully concluded the 2026–2027 Pak-German Strategic Dialogue on Development Cooperation at the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

On the German side, the Strategic Dialogue was led by Christoph Rauh, Deputy Director General for Asia and Latin America at the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ), accompanied by Her Excellency Ina Lepel, Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan. On the Pakistani side, the delegation was led by Muhammad Humair Karim, Secretary of the Ministry of Economic Affairs.

The German side also undertook a series of project visits in Islamabad to observe the impact of German cooperation on the ground. Furthermore, on November 4, the first “German-Pakistani Business Dialogue” took place, to foster a stronger exchange and synergy between the private sector and development cooperation.

The discussions focused on bilateral financial and technical cooperation projects, specifically targeting two priority areas: climate and energy, including adaptive approaches to social protection, and sustainable economic development and skills. As a key outcome of the meeting, both parties signed a protocol in which they agreed upon specific goals for cooperation within each of these sectors.

Christoph Rauh commended Pakistan’s commitment to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and highlighted the BMZ’s support for Pakistan’s National Economic Transformation Plan and the URAAN Pakistan initiative.

Secretary Muhammad Humair Karim praised the German Government’s steadfast support for Pakistan’s development agenda and expressed his appreciation for the shared values that underpin the long-standing partnership between the two nations.
