Islamabad, 15 January, 2024 (GNP): Five officers, including the SHO of Margalla Police Station, have been suspended. This action comes a day after a special force of the Islamabad Police carried out a raid at the residence of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) senior leader Barrister Gohar Ali Khan, as stated by Islamabad police on Sunday.
The capital city police carried out a raid at Gohar’s residence in Islamabad’s F/7-2 area with the aim of apprehending absconders linked to the May 9 violence and other activities against the state.
Barrister Gohar’s family informed the media that during the incident, the police mistreated the family, caused property damage, and seized valuable documents, mobile phones, and a laptop.
During the police raid on his house, Barrister Gohar was seen appealing with PTI’s electoral symbol. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa expressed concern over the incident and instructed the additional attorney general (AGP) to investigate the matter.

The Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) summoned the Capital City Police Officer and mandated an inquiry into the issue.
“Five officers, including SHO Margalla, have been suspended until further notice,” stated the capital police. An inquiry is underway, and stringent measures will be taken against any officials found breaching the law.
Islamabad IGP Dr. Akbar Nasir subsequently visited Barrister Gohar’s residence, as indicated by the police, and clarified that the raiding party had initially gone to the house based on a tip-off.
However, upon realizing it was the home of the PTI leader, they promptly withdrew. The IGP, addressing the media, referred to it as an “ignorance-based” raid that was aborted upon receiving information about Barrister Gohar’s residence.
